As a result of cutting down trees, we lose as many as six billion trees every year. This has to do with the demand for the products that are made from trees. Writing paper and household tissues are an example of this, as well as the timber used to make houses. And unfortunately, we need the items that the trees produce but we can do something about the depletion of our timberlands.
Even though we have Arbor Day, and we all should plant a tree every Arbor Day, that is merely taking care of a small part of the problem. This is because nearly all individuals don’t go out and plant a tree. It would help, of course, if everyone did.
Did you know that there are about 7 billion people living on the planet? That is just an estimation because you can’t keep an exact count. But if each of those 7 billion people went out and planted a tree every Arbor Day, we would be replacing all the trees that were felled that year. Then again, this is never going to happen.
If you would like to preserve our planet, planting trees is a good step that you can take. When it comes to planting a tree, I would not suggest you merely do this on a specific day every year. Planting a tree monthly is a good target or why not weekly? It is just a fact that a lot of people will refuse to give any thought to conservation or planting trees, so we must compensate for this ourselves.
On Arbor Day, the number of trees planted is only between 8 and 15 million. Hence on an annual basis, we have a shortage of approximately 5 billion trees. Alas, this is not improving.
A complete answer is necessary that still encourages people to plant trees but I would like to propose the following. If a law could be enacted that each time a tree is felled by lumber companies, they then had to plant two new ones, this could genuinely make a huge difference.
But then, until someone can turn this into reality, we are left to take care of planting the trees ourselves. In fact, restoring the amount of trees required is absolutely achievable. If each month, approximately 10% of people on the planet could plant a tree, that would compensate for the numbers being cut down yearly. On average, that would be approximately 7 billion trees being planted each year. Easentially, this gives us a surplus of one billion trees and will go a long way to restoring the levels that are truly required.
Planting a tree is a way people can save the planet. Things will change if 10% of the world’s population choose to help out and plant trees. You decide if you want to help out.
