The Reasons to Visit Gran Canaria?

Gran Canaria is the second most populous Canary Island accounting for about 40% of the people in the volcanic archipelago. The round island (it is called this because of its shape) is host to an incredibly varied landscape, from lush forests and ravines, to barren rocky plains, there are many different kinds of environments and so many different species of fauna and flora. Some are even unique to the island. If this isn’t reason enough to visit the Spanish island, then here is a list of things you can get up to there.

To really get to the heart of the natural beauty of the island, you may have to walk a long way. Fortunately, however, there are many companies offering safaris across the island, on which you will see plenty of the wildlife on the island, and get a taste of the variety of landscapes. If this isn’t extreme enough for you, then there’s always the option of the helicopter tour!

But let us not forget the marine life! Many of the wildlife tours on offer will take you out to see whales and dolphins. The boats are designed to be quite so they don’t startle the mammals, and the bottoms are often made of glass to maximise visibility. Among the animals you are likely to see are Bottlenose dolphins, and various kinds of whale such as the Pilot whale and the rare Beaked whale.

If you prefer the more ferocious breed of water dwelling creature then a trip to Cocodrilo Park will not disappoint, as it holds the biggest collection of crocodiles in Europe. If you want a more relaxing, less scary swim, then Ocean Park is where you should be heading, where you can go on water slides, or enjoy a wave machine.

With all the amazing wildlife on offer it’s easy to forget about a certain other animal that has called the island home: humanity. At the many museums and galleries across the island the history of the Canary islands is told, and it really is a fascinating tale.

The best reason is there are plenty of cheap holidays gran canaria.
