Tree Removal Methods

When public areas or neighborhoods need shade, fresh clean air, natural beauty, and a touch of life, trees usually do the job. Sometimes, however, despite the benefits of trees, they have to be removed, in order to allow development and progress to occur. But it’s not as easy as it sounds, considering that tree removal cost can be quite significant, depending on the size of the tree and where it is located.

The reasons for removing a tree can be many, from stopping the roots or limbs of the trees from damaging nearby buildings, to removing the threat of a dead tree which could fall at any moment. There are almost an equal number of ways to remove a tree, but there is one way in particular that’s special, because it does not cause the tree to die. This is by using a tree spade, a device with multiple spade-like blades that allow the machine to lift the tree, roots intact, and transport it in a different location, to continue its life.

The most common way to remove trees, however, is to simply remove the limbs, and then chop the whole tree down. When this method is employed, a tree stump is left behind, and this can’t be left alone, especially in residential and commercial areas, because they will hinder development. It can even prevent the use of the surrounding soil and land.

This is why tree stump removal methods have to be used, and like tree removal, there are a number of ways to remove stumps. There are chemicals, which will slowly break the stump down to manageable pieces, then there’s a device called a stump grinder, which can be used to “chew up” the remaining stump. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, usually involving costs and convenience.

Just remember to take into account your actual knowledge and experience in removing trees, when removing one that’s near structures and the public. There have been lots of cases wherein a tree that is removed improperly has caused damage to both people and property. So if you have any doubts, whatsoever, in your skill in removing trees, get a professional to do it instead!
